Japan Fisheries Association held the MEL Workshop on August 23, 2023, at Tokyo Big Site during the International Seafood Show in Tokyo 2023. The theme of Workshop is “Towards the New Age of Seafood Eco-Labels.” As panelists, Lisa Goché from Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative, Motohiro Kikuchi from Hokkaido Federation of Fisheries Cooperative Associations, Miwako Takase from Fisheries Agency, Kazuki Yuyama from Ito-Yokado and Naoya Kakizoe from MEL Japan Council were invited to make a speech (Part I) and joined the panel discussion (Part II) moderated by Masashi Maita from Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology.
Although it took a long time due to translation work into English, we have completed the final edit and are glad to release the workshop video as well as the panelist’s slides. We believe you can sympathize with their enthusiastic messages and productive opinions about marine eco-labels’ ideal roles and values.
