On December 20, 2023, the Japan Accreditation Board (JAB) approved granting accreditation to the Marine Ecology Research Institute Central Laboratory (MERI) as a product certification body. As a result, certification (assessment) activities for Marine Eco-label Japan (MEL) will be operated by two certification bodies, together with the Japan Fisheries Resources and Conservation Association (JFRCA). For inquiries regarding obtaining MEL Aquaculture and CoC certifications, please contact JFRCA and MERI.
As the scheme owner of the “World-Recognized Marine Eco-Label from Japan,” MEL will continuously strive to improve and evolve daily with all stakeholders to promote the sustainable use of marine products and contribute to the sustainable development of Japan’s fisheries industry.
